Overview

The 1st Annual UC San Diego Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Symposium is a live, in-person educational offering that includes didactic sessions and panel discussions. The conference will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025, in the Goldberg Auditorium at the Moores Cancer Center.

The UC San Diego APP Symposium will cover various topics related to APP healthcare delivery. This year's course will feature sessions on APP leadership, application of AI in medicine, management of immunotherapy-associated toxicities, updates in metabolic disease management, cannabis use disorder (CUD) and its impact on pain management, alternative medicine, and management of pelvic floor disorders during and after pregnancy. This course is targeted toward all APPs regardless of discipline or professional training. Physicians are also welcome to attend.

This symposium is exclusively for UC San Diego Health Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) and Physicians. If you register and do not meet these criteria, our team will contact you to confirm your eligibility. Please note that registration is subject to verification, and non-eligible registrants may be cancelled.

Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Analyze the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in sepsis recognition and management by evaluating at least three case scenarios demonstrating its impact on early detection, treatment protocols, and patient outcomes.
  2. Describe various types of immunotherapies, their mechanism of action and clinical application.
  3. Integrate best practices in diabetes management as it relates to metabolic disease by implementing at least three evidence-based interventions for improving glycemic control and metabolic outcomes.
  4. Recognize signs and symptoms of immunotherapy related toxicities as well as grading and management of toxicities.
  5. Evaluate the latest evidence on the prevalence, diagnostic criteria, and management strategies for metabolic-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) by formulating at least two diagnostic and treatment plans based on clinical guidelines presented during the session.
  6. Identify various avenues for APPs to enter and participate in leadership at the local, state, and national level.
  7. Evaluate the impact of pelvic floor dysfunction during and after pregnancy by identifying at least three evidence-based strategies for its prevention, diagnosis, and management.

Registration

This symposium is complimentary for UC San Diego Health APPs and Physicians. Registration is required, and eligibility will be verified.
