Overview

REGISTRATION IS CLOSED TO PREP FOR THE MEETING.

WALK-INS ARE WELCOME AT THE DOOR! THANK YOU!

The course has been designed to provide clinicians and community practitioners with current, evidence-based data that can be translated into clinical practice, in order to maximize therapeutic goals and optimize healthcare outcomes for patients with concerns about ADRD risk and those with an ADRD diagnoses. The program will focus on the complex and diverse array of factors that impact cognition, aging, and risk for ADRD. Our speakers will delve into the biopsychosocial impacts of lifestyle factors on the brain and the implications for researchers and clinicians working with individuals and families from diverse communities impacted by neurodegenerative diseases. We will offer a blend of synchronous and asynchronous learning. The in-person synchronous event will invite attendees to the UC San Diego Medical Campus and the supplemental asynchronous learning will provide built-in flexibility for attendees to join from anywhere and pace their learning progress to best meet their individualized needs.

DIRECTIONS

Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Identify the multitude of factors that influence risk for ADRD in diverse patient populations, including the intersecting impacts of race, class, ethnicity, and sex.
  2. Analyze the safety, efficacy, and expectations in using the anti-amyloid monoclonal antibodies (AAMAs) including Lecanemab (Leqembi™) and Donanemab (Kisunla™) as the first disease-modifying treatments for AD.
  3. Recognize the multitude of comorbidities that influence rate of cognitive decline and quality of life in patients with ADRD.
  4. Evaluate the proportion of risk of cognitive decline that is modifiable and introduce the possibility of reducing dementia risk and prevention through modifiable risk factors.
  5. Assess the impact of lifestyle interventions related to diet, exercise, sleep, and stress reduction on persons already diagnosed with MCI and early AD, and consider the compounding impact possible with adjunctive therapies.
  6. Analyze the move to a biologic definition of Alzheimer’s disease (AD), including the recently revised criteria for diagnosis and staging (Alzheimer's Association Workgroup).
