Are you a medical or nursing educator seeking new curricular innovations? Lead with Compassion is a workshop for change-makers like you. Join us for a 2.5 - day training in La Jolla, CA, that equips experienced and aspiring healthcare educators and artists with the tools to enhance their leadership, facilitation and professional performance in medical settings and beyond. Through an interactive curriculum based in arts and humanities, this immersive session uncovers and develops your authentic style and helps build your communication toolbox to become more adaptable when speaking with patients, students, funders, the media—and even your own family. Learning will occur alongside clinicians as well as artists who have an interest in teaching in healthcare. You will participate in discussions, innovative exercises, roleplay, and written reflections to increase your skill set and wellness. Our overarching goal is to rewire the way healthcare providers think about communication in medicine, and address the importance of awareness, and self-compassion.

This deep-dive experience can serve as a stand-alone opportunity or become your first step as a trainer to bolster your facilitation skills and learn ways of integrating these lessons into your curriculum. Our scaffolded program includes subsequent interactive “booster” sessions on Zoom, and online modules with facilitation guides for integration into the classroom. 1. Recognize the value behind compassionate communication in medicine

Cancellation Policy: The full course tuition is refundable, less $50 if your cancellation is received in writing on or before August 25, 2025. No refunds will be allowed after this date. Nurses: For the purpose of recertification, the American Nurses Credentialing Center accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME. For the purpose of relicensure, the California Board of Registered Nursing accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (report up to 16.50 hours of credit and list "CME Category 1" as the provider number).

Pharmacists: The California Board of Pharmacy accepts as continuing education for pharmacists coursework which meets the standard of relevance to pharmacy practice and is accepted as continuing education by the Medical Board of California.

Psychologists: The California Board of Psychology recognizes and accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ for license renewal. Psychologists outside of California should check with their state and local boards to ensure that ACCME accredited activities are acceptable for renewal.

American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA): This activity contributes to the CME component of the American Board of Anesthesiology’s redesigned Maintenance of Certification in AnesthesiologyTM (MOCA®) program, known as MOCA 2.0®. Please consult the ABA website, www.theABA.org,
for a list of all MOCA 2.0 requirements.

American Board of Pathology (ABPath): The activity has been registered to offer credit in the American Board of Pathology’s Continuing Certification program on activity materials. This Lifelong Learning (CME) activity enables the participant to earn up to 16.50.

American Board of Surgery (ABS): Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn credit toward the CME requirement of the American Board of Surgery’s Continuous Certification program. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABS credit.

American Board of Thoracic Surgery (ABTS): Successful completion of this CME activity enables the learner to earn credit toward the CME  of the American Board of Thoracic Surgery’s Maintenance of Certification program.
