Overview

At UC San Diego, our rheumatology division is committed to improving patient care in SLE. Through the generosity of the Wolfe Family, we will be opening a new center for lupus excellence, the UC San Diego Lupus Center, in the fall of 2023. The mission of this center is to improve patient care and education, to collaborate with other disciplines in a multidisciplinary approach to SLE care, and to facilitate ongoing efforts for collaborative research and involvement in clinical trials. With this symposium, we plan to educate the public on multiple unmet needs in lupus care and research that will be addressed in the lupus center going forward. We will have lupus specialists in various disciplines offer their expertise and educate the attendees on the challenges we face in lupus care and research. These areas include reproductive health for SLE patients, management and identification of cutaneous lupus, cardiovascular risk in SLE patients, and diagnosis and management of lupus nephritis.
