Overview

The 5th Annual UC San Diego Transgender Health Care Symposium is a live, in-person educational offering that includes didactic sessions, workshops, and panel discussions. Members of the transgender community will be present to provide feedback and assist health care professionals in providing gender-affirming care. The conference will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at the UC San Diego School of Medicine campus in La Jolla, California.

The UC San Diego Transgender Health Care Symposium will provide a comprehensive review of different aspects of gender-affirming medical care. This course will feature sessions on gender-inclusive cultural awareness, behavioral health care, primary care, and medical and surgical gender-affirming interventions. All topics will be presented to help providers from varied disciplines care for transgender and non-binary (NB) individuals in a sensitive and effective manner. The program will be delivered in plenary sessions followed by a brief question and answer opportunity, as well as topic-specific breakout sessions.

This course is targeted toward anyone interested in in-depth exposure to medical care for the transgender/non-binary patients, including physicians (in practice and in training) and allied health professionals in primary care, endocrinology, plastic surgery, urology, obstetrics/gynecology, dermatology as well as mental health professionals, social workers, nurses, and students of all above disciplines. Community members are also welcome.

UCSD is dedicated to providing a safe space for this event, creating an environment of respect and collaboration, free from discrimination and fear for our attendees and community members. Any form of harassment will not be tolerated.
