Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Identify endoscopic alternatives to conventional surgical approaches to GI pathology
  2. Explore innovations in endoscopic ultrasound for application in endohepatology
  3. Identify novel approaches to endoscopic submucosal dissection
  4. Discuss innovations in endoscopic ultrasound for application in endohepatology
  5. Describe EUS-guided biliary drainage
  6. Evaluate updated techniques for endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle biopsy
  7. Practice novel applications of lumen-apposing metal stents
  8. Distinguish the advantages and disadvantages of endoscopic gastrojejunostomy over duodenal stenting
  9. Identify novel approaches to endoscopic submucosal dissection
  10. Recall technique of underwater endoscopic mucosal resection
  11. Manage complications of endoscopic tissue resection
  12. Utilize advanced cannulation techniques for ERCP
  13. Assess techniques for ERCP in patients with altered anatomy
  14. Describe novel endoscopic approaches to GERD management in various patient populations
  15. Discuss strategies for endoscopic management of metabolic diseases
  16. Utilize full-thickness resection devices
  17. Explain the environmental impact of endoscopy and single-use devices

Accreditation
The University of California San Diego School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The University of California San Diego School of Medicine designates this Live Activity for a maximum of 13.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

AAPA: AAPA accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society. Pharmacists: The California Board of Pharmacy accepts as continuing education for pharmacists coursework which meets the standard of relevance to pharmacy practice and is accepted as continuing education by the Medical Board of California.

Psychologists: The California Board of Psychology recognizes and accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ for license renewal. Psychologists outside of California should check with their state and local boards to ensure that ACCME accredited activities are acceptable for renewal.

Surgeons: Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn credit toward the CME requirement of the American Board of Surgery’s Continuous Certification program. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABS credit.
