Overview


UC San Diego Department of Medicine: 2nd Annual Research Day

This session will explore the transformative role of genomics, precision medicine, and artificial intelligence in shaping the future of healthcare. Through expert presentations and interactive discussions, participants will gain insights into cutting-edge advancements that are improving patient outcomes and addressing key challenges in modern medicine. Special emphasis will be placed on health disparities and how innovative technologies can enhance equitable healthcare delivery. Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of how these rapidly evolving fields are revolutionizing clinical practice and medical decision-making.


Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Review the literature regarding obesity pharmacology and novel therapeutic targets
  2. Discuss the role and mechanisms of GLP1RA and associated newer medications
  3. Describe various surgical and non-surgical procedures for obesity management
  4. Summarize new advances in diabetes and metabolism science
  5. Discuss the future of obesity and metabolic disease
