Course Description

The Joint Commission (TJC), California Department of Public Health (CDPH), California state law, UC policy and UC San Diego policy identifies topics that must be presented annually. Compliance with these regulatory agencies is necessary to maintain UC San Diego Health’s accreditation. Failing to comply could impact future funding. As a part of the annual training compliance initiative, all UC San Diego Health Sciences and Health employees are required to complete the following e-courses on the UC Learning Center: -Workplace Safety/Environment of Care* (meets Injury Illness Prevention Program - IIPP requirement and includes Infection Control which meets Bloodborne Pathogen requirement) -Compliance Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Training* -Professional Standards** -Workplace Violence** -Privacy Awareness (HIPAA) This comprehensive training amalgamates essential components addressing multifaceted challenges encountered within the University community. Initiated with an interactive Cyber Security Awareness module, participants are equipped to navigate prevalent cyber threats, under the guidance of a seasoned social engineer. Utilizing real-life scenarios, the course elucidates strategies to mitigate risks, offered in multiple languages for enhanced accessibility. Furthermore, attendees delve into the University of California's Abusive Conduct in the Workplace Policy, gaining insights into identification, prevention, and response mechanisms for such behaviors. In parallel, supervisory, MSP employees, and faculty receive specialized training on averting sexual violence and harassment, integrating recognition of prohibited behaviors, preemptive measures, reporting protocols, and resources utilization. Moreover, compliance mandates are meticulously addressed, encompassing 2 CCR 11024, California Government Code 12950.1, AB 1825/2053, 34 CFR 668.46 Violence Against Women Act, and UC Policy on Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment, Abusive Conduct, and Anti-Discrimination. Further enriching the curriculum, the Annual Compliance Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training imparts the latest updates on policy adherence to safeguard personnel and patients. Additionally, Privacy Training elucidates federal and state privacy regulations, UC San Diego Health System Privacy Policies, fostering adeptness in privacy compliance leadership. Finally, participants fulfill the annual Workplace Safety/Environment of Care (Includes Bloodborne Pathogens) training, ensuring strict adherence to UC and UC San Diego policies, thereby reinforcing a culture of occupational safety and regulatory compliance within the institutional framework.
