This interactive one-day live activity will present cutting-edge new information for improving assessment and management of patients with gastrointestinal conditions, and place recent advances in context of current assessment and management paradigms.

The format includes keynote presentations by internationally known guest speakers, short, evidence-based updates by UC San Diego faculty, and interactive presentations and panel discussions of challenging cases.

About Us
The UC San Diego Division of Gastroenterology strives to be nationally recognized through its faculty as well as innovations that will improve the care of patients with gastrointestinal and liver diseases nationwide. The mission of the UC San Diego Division of Gastroenterology is to provide the best clinical care to those afflicted with gastrointestinal and liver diseases, investigate at the clinical and basic levels the best way to improve those diseases, and educate trainees on how to best approach the care of patients with those diseases.


Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Assess the novel approaches to the diagnosis and management of Barrett’s esophagus.
  2. Identify current treatment approaches for GERD.
  3. Examine current best practices and evidence-based management strategies for celiac disease.
  4. Discuss the role artificial intelligence technologies in colon cancer screening, management of inflammatory bowel disease and chronic liver disease.
  5. Recall the updated landscape for novel therapeutics in inflammatory bowel disease.
  6. Assess the role of new pharmaceutical agents in the management of metabolic associated steatohepatitis.
  7. Identify the management considerations for alcoholic liver disease, including early liver transplantation.
  8. Examine the role and utility of endoscopic submucosal dissection.
  9. Discuss the techniques for diagnosing and managing pancreatic cysts.

Accreditation

The University of California San Diego School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

AMA: The University of California, San Diego School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

AAPA: AAPA accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society. Physician assistants may receive a maximum of 6.75 hours of Category 1 credit for completing this program.

BRN: For the purpose of recertification, the American Nurses Credentialing Center accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME. Self-parking is available in parking structures or lots for the same rate as valet parking: $5 for 30 minutes to 3 hours, with each additional hour $2.20 and a daily maximum of $16.
