Overview

The UC San Diego Advanced Nephrology Conference attracts over one-hundred nephrologists and allied health professionals throughout the country, with the goal of providing up-to-date reviews and the latest information on topics commonly encountered in and relevant to clinical nephrology. The conference is structured into a series of presentations extending from Thursday morning to Saturday afternoon. On behalf of the UC San Diego Division of Nephrology, we are excited to present the 45th annual Advanced Nephrology Conference in San Diego, to be held January 29th – January 31st, 2026.


Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Describe the current approach to evaluation and treatment of IgA Nephritis.
  2. Discuss guideline directed management of Diabetes in patients with CKD.
  3. Identify the current evidence and guideline recommendations for the use of GLP-1 receptor agonists in patients with CKD.
  4. Discuss new and controversial issues presented in this year's nephrology literature.
  5. Evaluate and manage intradialytic blood pressure changes in patients on hemodialysis.
  6. Develop a home hemodialysis prescription and outline the methodology for establishing a home hemodialysis program.
  7. Evaluate and manage patients with nephrolithiasis.
  8. Describe the data for using Cystatin C in clinical practice.
  9. Describe post-transplant infectious complications and understand management of post-transplant CKD care.

Accreditation

The University of California San Diego School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

AMA: The University of California, San Diego School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 16.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

AAPA: AAPA accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society. Physician assistants may receive a maximum of 16.25 hours of Category 1 credit for completing this program.

BRN: For the purpose of recertification, the American Nurses Credentialing Center accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME. For the purpose of relicensure, the California Board of Registered Nursing accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (report up to 16.25 hours of credit and list "CME Category 1" as the provider number).

American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM): Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 16.25 Medical Knowledge points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
