Overview

This educational activity will address recent clinical advances in Hospital Medicine pertinent to the management of medically complex inpatients. Presentations will be delivered by leading UC San Diego specialists paired with practicing hospitalists who moderate the topics. The activity format allows for interaction between UC San Diego School of Medicine faculty and meeting attendees with the aim of implementing new standards of patient care and advancing clinical practice. Participants will gain up-to-date, practical information with immediate clinical application.


Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Apply emerging management strategies to the care of hospitalized patients with common conditions in nephrology, infectious diseases, diabetes, and acute pain management.
  2. Assess the most common inpatient wound types.
  3. Integrate effective strategies to partner with inpatient pharmacists to minimize medication errors and adverse events.
  4. List a variety of approaches to integrate emerging AI tools into hospitalist practice.

AAPA: AAPA accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society. American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM): Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 6.00 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Please park in the Campus Point Parking Structure located next door to the ACTRI. Self-parking is available in parking structures or lots for the same rate as valet parking: $5 for 30 minutes to 3 hours, with each additional hour $2.20 and a daily maximum of $16. $500 late fee will apply to any payments received after the posted deadline.
