Overview

The Artificial Intelligence in Nephrology Conference is a two-day educational event designed to explore the transformative role of AI in kidney care. The program will feature keynote addresses, expert-led sessions, and interactive discussions on AI applications in chronic kidney disease (CKD), acute kidney injury (AKI), dialysis, transplant nephrology, nephropathology and precision medicine.

The conference spans two days and includes keynote presentations, thematic sessions, poster presentations, and networking opportunities. Topics range from foundational AI concepts to advanced applications in nephrology, with a focus on clinical relevance and translational potential.

This Symposium is a collaboration of the University of California San Diego School of Medicine, the UAB-UCSD O'Brien Center for Acute Kidney Injury Research, the Divisions of Nephrology at UAB, the Division of Data Driven and Digital Medicine (D3M) at Mt. Sinai Healthcare System, and the UAB Nephrology Research and Training Center.



Travel Grants Available!
We are pleased to announce the availability of Travel Grants supported by the American Society of Nephrology to support attendance at the upcoming Artificial Intelligence in Nephrology Conference at University of California, San Diego, April 23-24, 2026. These grants aim to promote participation and foster collaboration in the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence in nephrology. Those selected will each receive a $1,250 stipend and complimentary registration. 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be healthcare professionals, researchers, or trainees (including fellows, residents, and graduate students) with an interest in AI applications in nephrology.

  • Must be registered for the AI in Nephrology Conference as an attendee and present an abstract with accompanying poster.

  • Priority will be given to Early-career professionals (< 10 years from terminal degree and without independent research funding (RO1) and trainees.

Application Requirements

  • Updated CV or resume.

  • Submission of abstract and presenting a poster at the conference.

Deadline
Applications must be submitted by January 31, 2026. Notifications will be sent by February 15, 2026.

Accreditation

The University of California San Diego School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The University of California San Diego School of Medicine designates this Live Activity for a maximum of 12.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

AAPA: AAPA accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society. Physician assistants may receive a maximum of 10.25 hours of Category 1 credit for completing this program.

American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM): Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 12.75 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program.
