The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at UC San Diego Health, proudly offers the Society of Critical Care Medicine’s Fundamental Critical Care Support: Obstetrics (FCCS: OB) course. This comprehensive, evidence-based program delivers high-impact, multidisciplinary education designed to enhance the knowledge, skills, and clinical confidence of healthcare professionals caring for critically ill or injured pregnant and postpartum patients. Through expert-led instruction, case-based learning, simulations, and practical frameworks aligned with continuing medical education (CME) standards, participants gain essential competencies to improve maternal safety and outcomes across diverse care settings.  This is a multi-disciplinary course welcoming learners from a variety of backgrounds, to include physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, midwives, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and others.

• Airway Management in the Pregnant Patient

• Preeclampsia/Eclampsia

• Maternal Cardiac Arrest

• Obstetric Hemorrhage

• Sepsis in Pregnancy

• Cardiac Conditions in Pregnancy

• Fetal Evaluation and Fetal Concerns in the Seriously Ill Pregnant Patient

• Management of Delivery and Newborn

• Thromboembolic Disease and Pregnancy

• Mechanical Ventilation in Pregnancy

• Pregnancy-related AKI

• Transport of the Critically Ill Pregnant Patient

• Nonobstetric Surgical Diseases in the Pregnant Patient

• Neurocritical Care in Pregnancy

Skills Stations Include:

• Management of Severe Preeclampsia and Eclampsia

• Postpartum Hemorrhage

• Cardiopulmonary Arrest in Pregnancy

• Mechanical Ventilation

• Trauma

1. Prioritize key assessment needs for critically ill pregnant patients using structured evaluation tools and clinical judgment.
2. Apply knowledge of pregnancy-related physiologic changes to interpret clinical findings and adjust management strategies.
3. Recognize and manage specific maternal obstetric and medical conditions by selecting and initiating evidence-based treatments.
4. Perform optimal maternal CPR and airway management techniques in simulated scenarios involving critically ill pregnant patients.
5. Perform a fetal assessment, identify indications for delivery, and apply guideline-based delivery and immediate neonatal management procedures.
6. Identify situations requiring expert consultation or patient transfer, and execute the appropriate processes to ensure safe and timely transfer of pregnant patients.

Cancellation Policy: The full course tuition is refundable, less $50 if your cancellation is received in writing one week prior to program start date. No refunds will be allowed after this date. AAPA: AAPA accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society. Physician assistants may receive a maximum of 15.25 hours of Category 1 credit for completing this program.

Nurses: For the purpose of recertification, the American Nurses Credentialing Center accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME. For the purpose of relicensure, the California Board of Registered Nursing accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (report up to 15.25 hours of credit and list "CME Category 1" as the provider number).

Psychologists: The California Board of Psychology recognizes and accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ for license renewal. Psychologists outside of California should check with their state and local boards to ensure that ACCME accredited activities are acceptable for renewal.

American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA): This activity contributes to the CME component of the American Board of Anesthesiology’s redesigned Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesiology^TM (MOCA®) program, known as MOCA 2.0®. Please consult the ABA website, www.theABA.org,
for a list of all MOCA 2.0 requirements.

American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM): Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 15.25 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

Exhibitor payment is due in full by the deadline listed on program materials (webpage and exhibitor agreement form). A $500 late fee will apply to any payments received after the posted deadline.

To avoid a late fee and ensure participation, proof of payment (such as a check copy, electronic payment confirmation, or remittance advice) must be submitted by the deadline.
Please note that exhibit placement and promotional benefits are not guaranteed until full payment and proof of payment are received.
