Overview

The inaugural Updates in Therapeutics Conference brings together pharmacists, physicians, and allied health professionals for an intensive two-day program examining emerging evidence, novel therapeutics, and evolving practice models across multiple disease states and clinical settings. Grounded in the latest clinical guidelines and research, this conference delivers actionable updates in cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic disease, infectious diseases, oncology, pulmonary medicine, pain and psychiatric disorders, and community health.

Sessions integrate evidence-based pharmacotherapy with practical implementation strategies, case-based learning, and interprofessional perspectives to support optimal patient outcomes across the care continuum. This conference addresses critical knowledge gaps in rapidly evolving therapeutic areas including novel biologic agents, advanced cardiovascular-metabolic therapies, antimicrobial stewardship, checkpoint inhibitor toxicities, and emerging technologies reshaping clinical practice. Through expert-led presentations, interactive case discussions, and examination of contemporary guideline updates, participants will acquire evidence-based tools for medication optimization, toxicity recognition and management, and implementation of precision medicine approaches in diverse patient populations.

    Therapeutic Areas Covered

  • Cardiovascular-Kidney-Metabolic Disease

  • Infectious Diseases

  • Oncology

  • Pulmonary Medicine & Transplantation

  • Pain & Psychiatry Interface

  • Community & Population Health

  • Emerging Frontiers in Practice

  • Cultural Competency & Legislation

Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Apply evidence-based pharmacotherapy strategies incorporating recently approved agents and updated clinical guidelines across cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic disease, infectious diseases, oncology, pulmonary medicine, and psychiatric disorders
  2. Recognize and manage adverse effects and drug interactions associated with novel therapeutics including immune checkpoint inhibitors, oral targeted cancer agents, GLP-1 receptor agonists, and transplant-related immunosuppressive regimens.
  3. Implement systematic approaches to medication optimization in complex patient populations through application of guideline-directed medical therapy, risk stratification frameworks, and integration of pharmacogenomics and precision medicine principles.
  4. Evaluate the impact of social determinants of health, medication access policies, and emerging technologies (artificial intelligence, digital therapeutics, remote monitoring) on therapeutic decision-making, population health outcomes, and team-based models.
  5. Apply collaborative practice strategies including appropriate specialist referral, interdisciplinary stewardship initiatives, and patient-centered communication to optimize therapeutic outcomes and advance team-based approaches in evolving healthcare delivery models.
