Overview

The California Heart Rhythm Symposium aims to bring together leaders in the field of cardiac electrophysiology (EP) and provide a forum for presentation and discussion of the latest advances in this medical subspecialty. The meeting will highlight basic and clinical mechanisms of cardiac arrhythmias, standard methods for their evaluation and treatment, and new advances in their treatment.

This is a 1.5-day conference comprised of didactic lectures from world renowned leaders in the field of cardiac electrophysiology, followed by an abstract session where fellows-in-training (i.e. EP fellows) will present their latest research (a poster-based session) to faculty and physician attendees. The fellow’s abstracts will be judged by a select committee, and the best will be selected for a cash research award. The second ½ day of lectures will be followed by a session wherein selected ECGs, presented by fellows-in-training will be presented and reviewed by selected meeting faculty.

Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Recognize mechanisms underlying various cardiac arrhythmias.
  2. Explain current standard methods for evaluation and treatment of various cardiac arrhythmias and their rationale.
  3. Evaluate emerging treatment approaches that are currently being applied or can be expected to be applied in the near future for treatment of various cardiac arrhythmias.
