Overview

Precision Cardiovascular Care Symposium:
Transitioning Care from Phenotypes to Genotypes 2024 Hybrid Meeting

Cardiovascular medicine is approaching a pivotal turning point, in which therapies introduced are shifting from those based on phenotype to those that treat the root underlying mechanism (endotype) and, more recently, the genetic cause (genotype). Such changes promise more effective therapies that promise to cure diseases instead of simply slowing down their progress.  For this promise to be fulfilled, it will require more than developing new therapeutics -fundamental changes will need to occur in clinical practice, including how we identify at-risk patients, predict their disease trajectory, and monitor the benefit and side effects of new therapeutics.

Symposium objectives:

  • Provide an Overview of the Changing Landscape of Cardiovascular Diagnostics and Therapeutics
  • Discuss cutting-edge preclinical science in cardiovascular biology.
  • Review advances in translational biology, including new biomarker technology.
  • Provide a synopsis of current and pending clinical trials in precision cardiology.

Highlighted Topics:

  • RNA Biology to Treat Cardiovascular Disease
  • AAV Therapy: The Beginning, The End of the Beginning or The End
  • Basic Mechanisms Responsible for Cardiac Arrhythmia
  • Understanding the Cardiac Inflammatory Milieu and Potential Targets
  • Design of Clinical Trials for Rare Cardiac Disorders
  • Assessing the Safety and Efficacy of Gene Therapy for Cardiomyopathy

There is No CME for this activity.

Cultural & Linguistic Competency and Implicit Bias
Continuing medical education (CME) providers are required by state Assembly Bills 1195 and 241, and the standards created by the California Medical Association (CMA), to include components that address cultural and linguistic competency and implicit bias in CME activities. The planners and presenters of this activity has been asked to provide meaningful consideration of these standards in the selection and presentation of content.  Additional information and resources are available on the UC San Diego CPD website.

Audio / Video Consent
This event may be audio and/or video recorded for future use or distribution. For virtual events, any engagement during the presentation (audio, video, chat, Q&A submission, etc.) will be captured and included. Participant microphones and cameras are generally disabled by default, and can always be manually disabled by participant. Depending on the type of event, publication of the recordings might be on a publicly available website or on an access-restricted site.
