Overview

This year’s theme, “If You Could Change One Thing: Bold Ideas for Reimagining Organ Donation and Transplantation,” reflects our commitment to challenging the status quo and driving meaningful change in the field. The REIMAGINE 2025 symposium will bring together bold, interdisciplinary ideas to reimagine the future of organ donation and transplantation. Sessions will focus on system redesign, emerging technologies, public engagement, and building trust in the system. Equally central is the role of compassion—and the growing science behind it—in shaping more holistic and effective practices. These topics underscore our belief that lasting change requires both structural innovation and human connection.

Please visit symposium website for additional details: https://surgery.ucsd.edu/research/center-for-organ-donation-research-education-innovation/annual-symposium.html

Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Employ mindfulness and compassionate communication techniques within professional settings and adapt them for use at home institutions to foster more open and collaborative working environments.
  2. Discuss best practices to reestablish public trust in living and deceased organ donation, particularly in response to negative media coverage.
  3. Develop best practices to reestablish public trust in living and deceased organ donation, particularly in response to negative media coverage.
  4. Identify at least two transformative strategies to improve the organ donation and transplantation system that also support the mental health and well-being of stakeholders.

Registration

Join leaders, innovators, clinicians, researchers, patients, donor families, and policy thinkers from around the country for a dynamic three-day symposium exploring the future of organ donation and transplantation.
